I keep some silly and irreverent posts public. Most anything deep and/or personal and/or dramalific (shit happens) is posted friends-only.

Please comment if you add. It bugs the shit out of me when people friend me out of nowhere, never introduce themselves....come on guys, it's just rude. Just say Hi! I swear I don't bite. Unless you do something to piss me off. Like friend me without commenting!

Here providing endless amusement...
...for John in the mornings.

He usually gets up before I do, and apparently I tend to start talking in my sleep as he's getting ready for work.

He's started keeping a notepad on his desk, where he records my latest unconscious ramblings for our mutual amusement.

Monday morning, we have:

Him: Ow.

Me: Hmmm you okay?

Him: Yeah, just stubbed my toe.

Me: Oh. Well, we won't have to run it very much if I turn into my cheetah.

Him: ............ XD

Me: ZzzzzzZZzzzzz

(you non-WoWers will not get this one...the druid class gets different animal forms, including a cheetah form that runs fast...even taking it into WoW context, it really doesn't make a lot of sense XD changing into cheetah form isn't really going to affect how often one has to run an instance)

And this morning:

Me: What's the living modifer?

Him: What?

Me: The living..?

Him: Three.

Me: Thank you.

I guess I was having a nightmare about math??

Yes, thank you weather.com, for the "Excessive Heat Warning."

This is the current temperature of the town we're living right now. GG, I can't wait for July and August! 8D (yeah that's sarcasm...it's only gonna get worse, qqqqq)

At least it's a dry heat, right? RIGHT???

I used to be acclimated to this weather (I remember one year when I was in high school, it hit 112F in the shade), but having not lived here for 8 years, and the last few years I DID live here, my parents had finally installed AC.....so I'm really feeling this heat wave.

eta: Just looked up the high for yesterday -- 107 F!! It broke the record of 98 F set in 1973!

Desperate times call for Spam
http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20080610/COLUMNIST23/806100577/1025/news

As if times were not depressing enough what with the high price of gas, the failing real estate market and the upcoming presidential election, people are eating more Spam.

As food prices soar, Spam has suddenly become a bargain. According, more or less, to the breathless press releases I have been receiving, a family of four can subsist for 30 days on a 12-ounce can of Spam, assuming no one takes more than one bite of the stuff, which is fairly typical in my experience.

Hahhahahahhaa! Call me crazy, but I actually like the stuff. My mom used to fry it up with butter (what else??) and serve it with toast...buttered toast, actually. Oh, the artery-clogging goodness.

I guess it's a developed taste. I grew up on it and still get random cravings for it on occasion. It's kind of comfort-foody. Nomnom.

I has NomNoms
I finally tried one of the two muffin/cupcake recipes I've been wanting to make!

They turned out well, I'm pleased to say. :) Very light and fluffy. The girl who gave me the recipe called it a Victoria Sponge. It was a bit of a challenge figuring out all the measurements and ingredients and temperatures, since she is in the UK. But a bit of research with Wikipedia and Yahoo solved that. :)

For these, I was expecting more of a muffiny effect. I think I'll add less sugar next time, since these are a little too sweet for my taste, even looking at them from a cupcake point of view. The conversion from ounces to tablespoons/cups probably has something to do with it.

They are really yummy though. And the recipe was so easy and fast! Can't wait to try it with several different fillings -- I want to try it with fresh strawberries and peaches too.

From a comment in [info]dogsintraining:

"My late dog Jack was a jumper when I adopted him, and I started using the word "off". I quickly changed my mind when a client pointed out that I had said "Jack off" out loud."

I can't stop laughing about this, omg!

My last post for the day. Probably.
These look wonderful! And the recipe looks pretty simple, I think I'll be able to handle it.

Looks like I'm going to have a baking project this weekend, nomnomnom.

Also, long weekend FTW. I didn't even realize it would be Memorial Day until yesterday. I can't believe how time zooms by.

Movies I Want to See this Summer
Because I have a horrible memory. >_<

Prince Caspian

Sex and the City

Indiana Jones

Kung Fu Panda

Get Smart

The Love Guru (yay Mike Meyers!)

Mamma Mia

WALL-E

The Dark Knight

MAYBE better to wait for renting, but I want to see at some point:

The Clone Wars

Made of Honor

The Mummy

Wow. I'm actually looking forward to this movie season! Just a couple years ago, there was nothing I wanted to see in theatres the entire season.

(if I drag John to Sex and the City, I might in turn be dragged to Iron Man and/or The Hulk and/or Speed Racer, haha >_>)

Boo no internets
Finally got to talk to a real person at Comcast, and we'll be hooked up on Tuesday. This wireless we're leeching off of is sooo flakey, I'm lucky if I can get it to load a single page at all. I'm not even sure if I can get this entry to post. I'm soooo behind on my flist! I might give in, and go walk down to the library and use the internet there.

The move is finally done though!! It dragged out a couple extra days, because my body has a horrible sense of timing -- my period started and gave me debilitating cramps for a couple days, and as soon as they were gone I came down with a bad migraine that knocked me out for another couple days. We just finished up yesterday.

Next time we are hiring movers!!! We've spent so much on gasoline and extra days of pro-rated rent that we didn't save any money doing it ourselves. >_<

I'm gonna be sad when it comes time to leave this place. I love our location -- we walk to the coffee shop almost every morning for coffee, and we're gonna walk around some more this weekend and hit up my favorite bakeries. We're also within walking distance of the farmer's market!! Fresh produce, fresh kettle corn, mmmmm.....

John had I Am Legend in on Netflix the other night. OMFG that movie sucked!! It freaked me out so bad, I was so wired afterwards that I couldn't fall asleep until like 3am. O_O It was very well-done, I'm not denying that! But I had no idea that it would be such a horror/suspense flick! Yikes!

Movin'!
We're moving tomorrow. The new cable provider is being a dumbass and can't give us an ETA on when we'll be hooked up at the new place. So I dunno how long we'll be without internet. Hopefully not too long.

Take care everyone!

Gonna be a hot one...
It's only 8am, and it's already 70 degrees. x_X WTB AC, omg.

John was released from the CCU around noon on Thursday. He has been diagnosed as "prone to atrial fibrillation." (living with AF, Wikipedia AF article) He's going to be on meds to lower his heartrate for about a month, and on ordered bedrest for about a week. He's weak and tired, and sleeping a lot, but otherwise okay.

We have to really work at getting his bloodpressure down, because it's contributing to the risk of him having these attacks. He has to go on a cardiac diet (probably for the rest of his life), and he has to lose some weight. :(

Currently still waiting to hear back from the landlord about whether we can stay here for another couple of weeks, as it's out of the question for John to try and participate in the move this weekend as planned, and lil ol' me at 115 lbs with 0 muscle mass atm cannot possibly handle moving the furniture by myself. Hopefully we will not have to resort to hiring professional movers.

I was really surprised by how calm I was throughout the whole ordeal. Once we got to the ER, I wasn't worried or stressed or scared at all (until they started talking about defibrillating him, gack o_O), just incredibly tired. When mom was in the hospital with her kidney failure, it was much scarier. Maybe because I went through EMT-B training a few years ago? The training itself led me to discover that life as an EMT was definitely not for me, but it was a great experience. I got to shadow twice in the same ER John and I were in, and got to ride-along in ambulances. I've long since forgotten 95% of what I learned, unfortunately. Or maybe working at the animal hospital helped me learn to be calm in crises? Who knows.

Lately have really been wanting to join the Y and start swimming laps again. I'm sick of being so sedentary. I miss swimming and running and yoga so bad! The joining fee is really expensive though. :( And I don't know if my leg is going to tweak out on me again or not. Since my leg injury, any attempts at excercise have resulted in it tweaking out again...be it walking, jogging, swimming.... It's been 6 months since I attempted to excerise, I had to stop taking Chloe for walks on the beach because my leg was becoming too painful. 3 years now since the injury, which the PT said would heal within 6-12 months. x_X

At least it's not tweaking out anymore when I go about my daily business. That's something anyway. It's still incredibly hyper-sensitive to the touch though. John can't even rest his hand on that area of my leg because it feels so weird when there's even the slightest pressure on it. Just how did I manage to injure a nerve in my fucking leg anyway?? Grrrr.

I should probably have gone back to the PT a long time ago, but I really can't afford it on my own. And in the past my dad hasn't followed through with helping with my medical bills until after they've sent me to collections. Sigh. My poor credit rating...

Maybe we'll go on a drive today to try and escape the heat. I'm sitting here in shorts and a tank, with wet hair from the shower, and I'm already feeling too warm!

What a night!
Took John in to the ER last night at about...11pm? Just got home a bit ago, it's 7am now.

I forget exactly what was wrong with his heart, I was so tired that all the medical terms just went in one ear and out the other! His heart-rate was insanely fast and erratic. It was jumping from the 140's to the 190's within seconds (his normal resting heart-rate is 70-80ish). The highest I saw it get was 204. Oh man. Apparently this happened once before, about a year before we started dating.

He wasn't responding to any of the meds they were giving him to try and regulate his heart-rate. They tried some pills, then we had to wait for an hour or two to see if they would work. Then they tried giving him some other pills (potassium I think), and we had to wait for another hour or two. Then they tried an injectable, and had to wait another 2 hours to see if that would kick in.

We were finally at the last option of sedating and defibrillating him, which would "re-set" his heart. But we had to wait another three hours or so for a second doctor to come on duty. In the mean time, they moved him up to the CCU....where his heart-rate FINALLY stabilized and settled in in the 80ish zone. So, thankfully!!! they did not have to electrocute my boyfriend to stop and restart his heart. :O I'm sooooo relieved!

Since he was stable, and they were really wanting to know what meds he is taking, I came home to call them in, and the nurse has instructed me to get some rest. XD They have to wait for the CCU doctor before they will have an estimated time of release, and the CCU doc won't be on duty for another couple hours, so hopefully I can catch some Z's in the meantime.

I felt bad for Chloe and Sammie! We left last night in such a rush that Chloe never even got her dinner. So I made her and the rats some scrambled eggs when I was making mine.

Signing off now, soooooo tired. x_X

Dooooo eeeeeeet

For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. This means no posting and no commenting. If you post elsewhere and have it set up to be posted through a feed on LiveJournal, don't do it. Stay away from LiveJournal for twenty-four hours. That can't be too hard, can it? I know some of you are probably quite active on LiveJournal and will find it hard to stay away for an entire day, just as I will, but this is something that needs to be done, to show the people running LiveJournal that we're watching the changes they are making, that we're paying attention, that we're discontent, and that we want to be heard and taken in to consideration. We are not simply users who can be tossed to the side and ignored. We are the people who make up LiveJournal. Without us, without the content we create, without our words, our voices, our creativity, our participation, there would be no LiveJournal. This is a fact, and it needs to be realized and understood and then taken in to consideration when making decisions regarding the way that LiveJournal is run. The strike is only a few days away, so there isn't all too much time to prepare. While this is unfortunate, it isn't enough to keep this strike from taking place. It will take place, the second it is meant to, and it would be best to have as many people take part as possible. Please, spread the word. Spread it fast. There are only a few days to organize this. If you find that you care about LiveJournal or care about the people you interact with on LiveJournal or simply want it to remain a place where you can entertain yourself without constant censorship and money-hungry practices being thrown in without the consideration of those who use the service, act now. If you don't wish to spread the word, that is fine, but please: refrain from using LiveJournal on Friday, March 21st. Do something else for a change. It's for a good cause. (:

For background on this strike and why it is being held, please read the following posts:
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/394838.html
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395310.html

To find out exactly when the strike begins and ends, depending on where you are located, please see this:
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395125.html

What's this about?

* It's about free and ad-free LiveJournal accounts being abolished for new members, ignoring the advice from the newly-formed Advisory Board.
* It's about LJ staff trying to sneak this decision in under the radar, and when people found out, telling the users it was done 'to make the signup process less confusing'.
* It's about LJ staff failing to apologize for trying to hide the facts from view and for lying about the actual reasons for their actions.
* And finally, it's about the latest decision to hide certain user interests from the list of Most Popular Interests, some of them being fanfiction, bisexuality, sex and depression. This decision was not announced or explained in any way. Users found out for themselves.

AND ICONS TO SUPPORT THIS:

Thanks to [info]lemmingpie for bringing this to my attention!

I've had a paid account since before the new company took over...I haven't really been aware of what's been going on for Basic accounts. :( But Basic is how I started off, I only upgraded for more icons. XD Kinda makes me sick how money-driven this site has become. :(

Oh what a dog's life...
While John and I were up getting ready to check out this morning, guess who was sleeping in...

Clearly this dog is over-worked, and not spoiled nearly enough. (I wish we'd had the camera with us to capture this, but all I had was my cell phone!)

Chloe had a GRAND old time this entire past week+...spending the bulk of every day in my dad's yard running around with her partner in crime, Maia (my mom's pooch). They are two peas in a pod.
